The captain claims he's no good with kids but like many things Jim Kirk believes about himself the truth is often a much different story to the lies he tells himself for one reason or another. He waves when they start to head that way before turning his attention back to Felix and Loki properly. Just in time to be handed a box.
That's right! The kids said they brought gifts. Non..magical..gifts? From a god..?? He might not be following but the loud barking 'HA!' that escapes him the moment he sees the brooch is more than telling enough that he's caught on to what is being referenced here.
"No shit? This is..." He's still fighting not to keep laughing, so there's nothing but joy in those shining blue eyes when he looks up from the box. "Thank you. Felix's right though, I was only considered a potential spy for maybe half an hour. It turned out pretty good, all things considered."
The captain's fingers trace over the edges of the brooch fondly. This wasn't something Jim thought he'd lay eyes on again. It really is beautiful. And his, now.
