A Very Nexus Reception

To all the friends of the happy grooms, PINpoint messages have already been sent weeks ago inviting them to expect quite the street party arranged in the commons of the Nexus. Guests have been invited to bring an appetite--both for food and for a social adventure. Nirnish weddings are public affairs, after all. While the ceremony has had to be somewhat sequestered for the sake of keeping the existence of Other Worlds a secret, neither Felix nor Jim would want to leave out their interdimensional friends entirely. Having a reception party arranged in the Nexus became the natural plan of action.

Overnight large sections of the Commons are transformed via diligent craftsmanship and quite a lot of magic from those who’ve volunteered. Lanterns representing the Divines are hung along every lamp post, bringing at least the idea of warmth even if the flames are too small to heat their surroundings alone. Bardic tunes carry in the air as readily as the scent of food and drink. Past banners of red and black, blue and white the people gather.

For both grooms this is nearly a continuation of the day before. They’ve had the chance to sleep off the nerves of their ceremony. Today is entirely for celebration--uninhibited celebration at that. No more minding what is said and isn’t. No more pretending to be anything other than who they are. Jim’s traded out his Nirnish finery for a suit and tie, garments he’s much more familiar with. Felix is staying with his native clothing; though he may have dressed down a little from his wedding clothes, the conjurer’s dressed in fitted breeches and his best fur-trimmed coat and boots, the soft hide dyed blue to match his tunic. By their side sits the conjurer’s spectral wolf familiar, ears pricked at the gathering.

As the guests find their ways over it will be easy to spot their friends amidst all the decor along with many other avenues with which to enjoy themselves….

Greetings

Food and Drink

Music and Dancing

Bonfire Entertainment

Party Games

There's a chance she might be joking, but Thor gives it some consideration anyway. "I don't know," he says absently, thoughtfully. "What are they teaching children in these schools of theirs? I'll ask young Peter next time I see him." If nothing else, it might be something more pleasant to talk about than... well, the obvious.

He shrugs, and scratches at his chin. "Either way, I don't think your dance partners should try to compete. They'd be the first to fall."

Hundreds? Rocket can't help but picture something like Thanos' monster of a ship, or maybe something more like one of the Nova Corps' cruisers. He can't whistle, but the noise he makes is impressed. "Nothin' that big. Eight people tops." Of course, they only have six now, and Gamora's absence is still a noticeable void on the ship. But dammit... it's still better than having nobody but Rocket. Well, and Nebula, obviously.

Four out of five ain't that bad, all things considered. He'd never thought he'd get any of them back.

"'Course, we can fly it with a crew of two, but that ain't as fun." More lonely, he means, but he's not saying that part out loud.

Oh, well, that's a more complicated question than it probably appears. Rocket's face scrunches up a little as he considers how to answer. "Been at least four years now, somethin' like that. It's... he used to be bigger. A while back. Wasn't the same then."

It’s a frustrating time to be Han Solo. He still feels a little resentment about being dragged into the fighting, but he’s been more or less committed to the Rebels since the battle of Yavin IV. It was to keep an eye on Luke (who obviously needed help), he’d convinced himself of early on, but he always ended up in proximity to the Princess. Or the Princess ending up in proximity to him and there seemed to be a certain tension in the air when they were together.

Too bad their personalities seemed to be antagonistic. She definitely was attractive and smart, even fun to talk to on occasion, but he didn’t see them as being anything but uneasy allies at best.

“No, I don’t think so.” Han says with a shrug. “She believes in the force as far as I can tell.”

Even in a place like the Nexus, the odds of running into one's double seems astronomical, let alone multiple. All the same, this multidimensional crossroads defies logic and statistics and all manner of reason, no matter what way you slice it. Were they still young men, they might devote their entire lives to studying the Nexus and still barely even scratch the surface of what it has to offer. So Kirk does not begrudge Felix a few minutes' disbelief, not at all.

"We like to keep a low profile these days," he answers easily, still absently scritching at Tiber's chin. It's not entirely how he would've chosen to live out retirement, but maybe it's better for him in the end; he hadn't enjoyed the last time he'd tried. Besides, with Spock, what more does he really need? Here, they can build a home, and live out what years they have left together.

With so little information still about what the familiar is, the creature has attracted most of Spock's attention. Not all, of course. Nothing that would make him a rude guest. But Jim has the kneazle well under control and this? This is something new. The former first officer of the Enterprise in all her forms cannot help to have his interest piqued. It certainly doesn't dwindle his interest to see the spectral wolf showing just as much interest in the two of them. Spock is careful when removing his glove so he can offer out a wrinkled hand for the wolf to sniff and inspect.

Fearless, but definitely curious. A true explorer even at so advanced an age.

"It is gratifying to hear that young Jim still thinks fondly of us, even if he proves unwilling to forget about us as he should." Unwilling and moreso befriending the other alternate of himself he's run across. A dangerous game, that. But one Spock nearly expects of the human. "Would you speak some on how he is doing? How you both are faring?"

Spock looks up from where he's watching the familiar with softness in his dark eyes.

"Jim is a friend, you see. One I have sworn not to interfere with, but whom goes out of his way to look after us. Who put himself at risk to be sure we would be safe when trouble came to this place." He is not Spock's bond-mate. No one can replace the man seated next to him. But he is A Jim Kirk and in some respects Spock will always find himself worrying over the young captain. Both of them, even, though he knows the other less well.

"He's quite something." Her comment on Han slipped out with little context as to what he might be, but they were already moving on weren't they?

Leia nodded, all too well understanding attacks and losses, Alderaan still stung her heart in a way she knew would never fully heal. "I've seen similar things with our Rebellion, we've lost whole worlds, fleets, good people." It pained her more than she could give words to. "But as you say, we cannot stop, what we're trying to do is too important."

"We'll keep them quite safe," Felix assures him. These aren't just pretty gifts - they're a memory, of shared moments as well as Loki himself. On which subject... Felix focuses a little more, studying Loki as politely as he can.

"Your charges seem to be thriving-" the one child notwithstanding. "I hope the same can be said for you... and your researches?"

Careful, careful. Jim is well aware of what lies beneath this particular euphemism (for once) but there's no need to go making it obvious to anyone else.

"Going to? I've already performed one," Felix answers loftily, gesturing at his familiar skulking nearby. That doesn't really count though, like comparing a hobby horse to a riled young stallion. "Besides, I know what I'm doing."

He's 99% sure. He's spent hours practicing not to fall flat on his face or let a wild scamp loose in a crowd of revelers. Danny's enthusiasm is only going to buoy him up here.

"Well, speaking with you reminded me that there's value in bringing a bit of showmanship to my craft," he explains with a wink. "It's been years since I tried putting my magic to use at a party." His specialty, at least. He glances at Jim. "Though I suppose we'd better confer without you, Jim, if I'm to save any surprises to impress you with..."

Do? Groot blinks at her in puzzlement. "I am... Groot? I am Groot..." The treenager glances uncertainly to Rocket, before returning his gaze to Jaylah, and nods a little.

"He's our entertainment specialist," Rocket 'translates,' with a cheeky little wink. "Keeps us all from gettin' bored in between here and there."

"I am Groot!" That's not what I said! Groot frowns at him as best he can, which Rocket pretends not to notice.

Enjoying the squire's reaction means the Hunter isn't noticed until she asks her question. Isidor blinks, looking up and noticing the strange light of the Ghost before the Hunter gets her full attention.

"I haven't checked officially, but I'd guess close to forty miles-per-hour on the ground. I couldn't even guess once she's in the air."

Interesting... Not too dissimilar from dealing with people and businesses, really. Different approaches yield different results. It's all a matter of determining how much work something is worth, and how much a negotiator is able to do.

"And is this something restricted to people of your world? Is there an innate connection between people from your universe and the planes these daedra inhabit?"

Considering Jim's current smitten look it's not hard to draw some conclusions about how his interaction with the Archon played out. She can't help but coo, "Did you two show affection towards one another? You know the Archon is allergic to feelings, right?"

Isidor smiles as sweetly as she can in return. "I'll warn you, I've got more people whose asses I want to kick but can't."

"We'll make the time. It's a little easier for me currently. Runa is taking on more of my duties to Viatorus whether I like it or not." And her mother is so eager for her to set things up so that she can focus on raising a few little-Durants. Another thing Jim will have to help her vent about. "Do you even get time off when you're on your ship?"

"Oh." Viatorus looks back to Groot and thinks quietly to himself. He's not sure how that makes sense, for something to get smaller but still be so very much alive. On the one hand, it's clear from Rocket's expression that whatever happened probably wasn't good. On the other, he's intensely curious.

"I... don't think I understand. Can I ask what happened?"

If she were as competitive as her sister-in-law she'd be screeching at the sight of him knocking back more alcohol. She's not, however, and the act is so quintessentially 'Harrowheart' that instead she laughs and laughs.

By the time he returns she'd nearly abandoned the prospect of participating, thinking she'd lost the death knight to some better distraction. Seeing the armour in a wheelbarrow sends a flurry of excitement through her.

"Oh you'll have to help me into it," she says as she comes over, brushing the cold metal with her fingertips. "And you'll have to take a photo."

Biting her lip, she grimace-grins at him. "Are you sure this is going to fit? You're so tall and muscular! I'm the exact opposite of you."

Harrowheart seizes. The orc is her mother? Not literally, but that’s not the point! Light, how would he feel if someone asked him—

A small noise ekes out of Harrow’s throat as he stares into the middle distance. There’s got to be a way to come back from this, right? There’s got to be some kind of solution. Think, Harrowheart! Think!

His gaze slowly shifts to The Orc, where he lingers for a moment before muttering, “You look good for your age.”

"I haven't played dom-jot in literally forever" Delia gives a little bit of a laugh, and then grins, brightly, her good eye alight with mischief, "So I might be a little rusty."

Delia herself is rather pleased with this as well, having heard about Felix from Jim, she's happy to see they're all getting along oh-so-well. "Although some might've called me a hustler in the olden days of yore."

Hopefully, Felix knows what he's getting into, with these two together.

It would be way more fun. That isn't to say that despite any rules Jim or Viatorus put in place, Felix and Runa won't find a way to make their own fun anyway. Best test this out somewhere where at least Viatorus' magic won't raise too many eyebrows.

"You'll convince him yet, don't worry," Runa assures Jim with a wink.

As for the question of dancing... Well that stumps an awkward Viatorus. His wife only lets him flounder for a few seconds before jumping in with, "You won't be able to stop me. As for Viatorus..." She glances at the guilty looking scholar before grinning at Felix again. "We'll see what we can do."

"We mustn't keep you from your guests." Letting go of Viatorus, Runa hugs both of them in turn. "I am so happy for you! Enjoy tonight! And the rest of your lives!"
