An astronaut and an ancient Roman, huh? That rather hits the nail on the head doesn't it? Toss in the existence of actual Magic and that may as well be...are he and Felix a trope now? Is that what just happened here? There are trashy romance novels about this? Too bizarre. Jim stifles a nervous sort of chuckle. Crowley's addition to the plot is at least so far out of right field by comparison that Jim relaxes quite a lot more.
"Well, I don't know about that. Felix and I were introduced by an old friend of mine at a holiday party in the Nexus. Everything else...we sort of just kept running into each other and never stopped." His shrug is a bit helpless. This is the PG-13 version of how they met, of course, so most of the story here is being omitted. Jim's choice in Halloween costumes included.
"I'm uh." He holds out a hand to shake. "Jim Kirk, by the way. It's nice to meet both of you. What sort of world do you originate from, if it wouldn't be rude to ask. Is it an Earth?" Certainly a lot of people do seem to hail from some form or another of it.
