It could have had something to do with many more years of being an accessory at political functions. He had learned how to be charming and gentle in a way that he just didn’t know how to be at age thirty. He had years of being Leia’s husband under his belt and that had given him a lot more knowledge of how she would appreciate being treated than the younger him had. And he had always treated her differently than he would anybody else — whether she believed that or not.

“It’s my hair, isn’t it?” As if it wasn’t obvious that what set him apart from the Han she knew was age.

Since she already was posed on the chair, he doesn’t opt to pull it out for her. Though, he probably would have in other circumstances. Instead he simply sits without much ceremony.
