Pavel is unaware that Leia might have any misconceptions about how large the ship and it's selected crew are or what their roles are but he's the sort to talk quickly and with passion so she may yet find out just by the grace of being with this young man for any length of time.

"Mine? A ship of my own?" He considers that for only about half a second before shaking his head quickly. "I have seen the paperwork and meetings and responsibilities a Captain has. I want to have free time once in a while. But I'd like to be chief navigator someday. Mayyyybe try for first officer if my best friend ever gets a ship of his own. We work well together. He flies where I tell him!" Laughing, at that. Pavel respects the captain more than anything, but the Enterprise's Helmsman Hikaru Sulu is his closest friend.
