"Felix has unusually good luck that way." Jim mutters into Delia's ear, though he's not quiet enough to keep the Imperial from easily overhearing him. "Bastard always seems to get what he wants."

It's made a lot easier when Jim goes out of his way to spoil Felix as much as possible. While Felix is getting a lay of the table with its walls and lights Jim's going to find them cues so they can get started.
