He's honestly disappointed, then: she seemed so close to simply accepting his offer that his hopes were raised. But he couldn't realistically expect her to simply take it. Isidor Durant is too shrewd to be rushed into a dangerous play, and if Felix wants to redeem himself in her eyes, well, he'll have to wait a little longer, work a little harder than that.
