A Very Nexus Reception

To all the friends of the happy grooms, PINpoint messages have already been sent weeks ago inviting them to expect quite the street party arranged in the commons of the Nexus. Guests have been invited to bring an appetite--both for food and for a social adventure. Nirnish weddings are public affairs, after all. While the ceremony has had to be somewhat sequestered for the sake of keeping the existence of Other Worlds a secret, neither Felix nor Jim would want to leave out their interdimensional friends entirely. Having a reception party arranged in the Nexus became the natural plan of action.
Overnight large sections of the Commons are transformed via diligent craftsmanship and quite a lot of magic from those who’ve volunteered. Lanterns representing the Divines are hung along every lamp post, bringing at least the idea of warmth even if the flames are too small to heat their surroundings alone. Bardic tunes carry in the air as readily as the scent of food and drink. Past banners of red and black, blue and white the people gather.
For both grooms this is nearly a continuation of the day before. They’ve had the chance to sleep off the nerves of their ceremony. Today is entirely for celebration--uninhibited celebration at that. No more minding what is said and isn’t. No more pretending to be anything other than who they are. Jim’s traded out his Nirnish finery for a suit and tie, garments he’s much more familiar with. Felix is staying with his native clothing; though he may have dressed down a little from his wedding clothes, the conjurer’s dressed in fitted breeches and his best fur-trimmed coat and boots, the soft hide dyed blue to match his tunic. By their side sits the conjurer’s spectral wolf familiar, ears pricked at the gathering.
As the guests find their ways over it will be easy to spot their friends amidst all the decor along with many other avenues with which to enjoy themselves….

"It's been too long since I've seen you; I hope you're still as light on your feet as ever."

Is this what he thinks it is? He's too distracted to take notice if Felix's familiar takes its leave abruptly.
"Thank you, Amelia." There's no doubting he means it, either. Whatever bumps their paths may have had until now, Jim's well aware she's a friend to Felix. "If the dance we shared last night was anything to go by, I'd imagine he's only gotten more deft since you've last seen him."
Complimenting Felix is something they can both agree on, surely.
"Maybe you'll have to take him for a dance tonight just to be sure though."

Date: 2019-12-09 10:34 pm (UTC)She laughs softly at the both of them. Yes, complimenting Felix is definitely something Amelia is happy to do. "I've managed to learn a few new moves since the last time I took your husband around for a dance, Jim, but we'll see if I can keep up. It's been low on my list of priorities lately." Rather than let that thought linger, she smoothly moves on with, "Once you're both free from your greeting duties, we'll give it a try. And if I happen to trip, I'll simply blame Felix's feet for being in the way."
Teasing Felix is a habit she's never planning to give up. It comes with the territory of reminding her of her little brothers (and other headstrong companions).
Smiling again, she tucks her arms back into her cloak for warmth. "There are plenty of things we can catch up on tonight as time allows. I might even need two dances to get through it all," she jokes. "Or maybe one and a warm drink after. I'll leave that decision to the both of you as I don't want to separate you for too long, especially with so many other people wanting your attention." Busy as all of them are, they can certainly find time to sit down over coffee - or tea - to regale each other with stories of their lives after the party is over.

"But don't go too far. I have more than a dance to give you, when we have a little more space to talk." Privately, that is. Well, semi-privately; it is a party.

Date: 2019-12-11 11:35 pm (UTC)"I'll avail myself to everything on offer. Including that dance." Felix gets a mock stern look and a wink before Amelia inclines her shoulders slightly to the couple. "Until then, I hope the both of you have a wonderful time tonight."
The rogue offers both men another smile before heading off, intent on exploring as much as possible before Felix manages to catch up to her later in the evening.
