To all the friends of the happy grooms, PINpoint messages have already been sent weeks ago inviting them to expect quite the street party arranged in the commons of the Nexus. Guests have been invited to bring an appetite--both for food and for a social adventure. Nirnish weddings are public affairs, after all. While the ceremony has had to be somewhat sequestered for the sake of keeping the existence of Other Worlds a secret, neither Felix nor Jim would want to leave out their interdimensional friends entirely. Having a reception party arranged in the Nexus became the natural plan of action.

Overnight large sections of the Commons are transformed via diligent craftsmanship and quite a lot of magic from those who’ve volunteered. Lanterns representing the Divines are hung along every lamp post, bringing at least the idea of warmth even if the flames are too small to heat their surroundings alone. Bardic tunes carry in the air as readily as the scent of food and drink. Past banners of red and black, blue and white the people gather.

For both grooms this is nearly a continuation of the day before. They’ve had the chance to sleep off the nerves of their ceremony. Today is entirely for celebration--uninhibited celebration at that. No more minding what is said and isn’t. No more pretending to be anything other than who they are. Jim’s traded out his Nirnish finery for a suit and tie, garments he’s much more familiar with. Felix is staying with his native clothing; though he may have dressed down a little from his wedding clothes, the conjurer’s dressed in fitted breeches and his best fur-trimmed coat and boots, the soft hide dyed blue to match his tunic. By their side sits the conjurer’s spectral wolf familiar, ears pricked at the gathering.

As the guests find their ways over it will be easy to spot their friends amidst all the decor along with many other avenues with which to enjoy themselves….

This close there’s a brush of hot air each time the dragon breathes out, carrying the scent of blood and hot ash and yes, a scent that’s fundamentally animal, one that goes straight to the primal brain and screams Danger. But every rippling muscle and scale of that white hide is perfectly still, as if the dragon is doing his best not to startle them. Only when Jim dares inch a little closer yet does his craggy head lower, a low rumble starting in his chest.

Drem Yol Lok, mortal.” His voice is deep and startlingly pleasant, the words utterly crisp for coming from a mouth that looks built only to rend. “Are you the ones who prepared this feast?”

Jim will hear Felix gasp at his side. The conjurer isn’t as brave as he, but where Jim goes he must go, and so he’s been dragged closer too. He has a spell coiled defensively in each hand, and both feel hopelessly inadequate. The dragon(!) has a presence that goes beyond the physical; he doesn’t doubt in this moment that such creatures are children of Akatosh. Puny mortals, indeed.

He hopes Stratos is close by…

“Hmmm. A wedding? Kogaan. Most fortunate...” But the pale eyes blink then, the dragon pulling his head back in surprise, as if trying to focus on Jim better. “You can. But would you? That is a greater question. Are you inviting me to share in your brit haalgron... your feast?”

“Yes!” Too squeaky, Felix. He clears his throat. “Y-yes, of course we wouldn’t turn you away, sir. Not if you would like to join us. We’re only afraid that our meager supplies may not be… sufficient to satisfy you.”

And that’s when things get really terrifying. There’s a huffing gust of hot air and a deep rumbling sound- and then the dragon’s laughter rolls out around them.

Faasnu. I did not come to devour all of your feast. Nor anything else.” Is… is that a joke. Is he teasing them. There’s a glint in his eyes. “But your hospitality is bravely offered. I will gladly accept it. Kaan haalvut. I sense a familiar blessing upon you. It would please me greatly to honor the gods with you. Though perhaps from here, yes?”

Felix’s jaw might be on the floor at this point. He’s not sure; he doesn’t dare look away to check. It’s a live dragon; a live dragon who definitely seems to be from Tamriel; it’s a live dragon from Tamriel and he’s apparently religious??

“I- it would be our pleasure, lord,” he stammers, trying to get a hold of himself. He can’t tell if this is the best thing to ever happen or the most terrifying. Okay, closer to the former. The dragon seems less likely (and able) to crush him on a whim than the likes of Hircine. Still, he clings to Jim’s arm protectively before he manages a bow.

“I am named Felix Caelus- and this is my husband, James T. Kirk.” You can’t eat people if you know their names. That’s… a rule he may have made up.

“Greetings to you both. I am Paarthurnax.” The syllables roll from his tongue and make the air tremble with their weight. He seems to fix Felix with a particular look when he adds, “I ask no more title than that.”

This seems to be important, but he sounds calm enough. “Lok, Thu’um. Blessings upon you both. It has been long since I was permitted to join the festivities of mortalkind.”

“If it is tinvaak you wish for, that is a gift this old dovah can give you.” Indeed, the dragon does look old: his white scales are tinged with grey, his hide battle-scarred, spines chipped and broken in ancient wars. “I would welcome it, when you are not seeing to your guests. Ni motmahus… it will not be difficult to find me.”

“R-really?” Felix doesn’t know if he sounds shocked or gleeful. A dragon who’s willing to talk rather than slay people is every boyhood dream come to life and staring at him. Well, and maybe if Martin Septim were to suddenly appear arm in arm with the Champion of Cyrodiil.

“Thank you,” he manages. “As- as Jim says, we are beyond fortunate. I’m certain we’ll have no end of questions to ask.” Although first-first he needs to find all the others and tell them not to get upset when they see this creature perched at the edge of the wedding party...
