To all the friends of the happy grooms, PINpoint messages have already been sent weeks ago inviting them to expect quite the street party arranged in the commons of the Nexus. Guests have been invited to bring an appetite--both for food and for a social adventure. Nirnish weddings are public affairs, after all. While the ceremony has had to be somewhat sequestered for the sake of keeping the existence of Other Worlds a secret, neither Felix nor Jim would want to leave out their interdimensional friends entirely. Having a reception party arranged in the Nexus became the natural plan of action.

Overnight large sections of the Commons are transformed via diligent craftsmanship and quite a lot of magic from those who’ve volunteered. Lanterns representing the Divines are hung along every lamp post, bringing at least the idea of warmth even if the flames are too small to heat their surroundings alone. Bardic tunes carry in the air as readily as the scent of food and drink. Past banners of red and black, blue and white the people gather.

For both grooms this is nearly a continuation of the day before. They’ve had the chance to sleep off the nerves of their ceremony. Today is entirely for celebration--uninhibited celebration at that. No more minding what is said and isn’t. No more pretending to be anything other than who they are. Jim’s traded out his Nirnish finery for a suit and tie, garments he’s much more familiar with. Felix is staying with his native clothing; though he may have dressed down a little from his wedding clothes, the conjurer’s dressed in fitted breeches and his best fur-trimmed coat and boots, the soft hide dyed blue to match his tunic. By their side sits the conjurer’s spectral wolf familiar, ears pricked at the gathering.

As the guests find their ways over it will be easy to spot their friends amidst all the decor along with many other avenues with which to enjoy themselves….

Felix wonders briefly whether Palmer means he didn't get along with Stratos or with this Garry fellow. He doesn't think his brother ever mentioned the man, at least not by name.

In any case, there's business to attend to. Felix winks at Jim as his husband bows out. Scheming may be the conjurer's specialty, but the captain he married has sharp wits when it comes to these things.

"Exactly," he says to Palmer. "Nothing is perfectly reliable in the Nexus, and even Loki may not anticipate the needs of every species who could visit your shop." More importantly, it's Loki. You can't purvey substances supplied by a god of mischief and expect no 'surprises'. But Felix has the sense that Earth peoples don't think of these things.

So instead of saying that he offers, "I could give you the number to call, should anything happen."

Palmer agrees with the sentiment. He needs to be ready for visitors from all species.

"Yeah, I know better than to trust the Nexus too much. The rules - what rules there are here, anyway - are kinda wonky. You can't rely on 'em too much in a pinch, so a backup plan wouldn't be a bad idea."

Palmer doesn't mind a little shifty business. Back home he'd be more careful, but the substances he sells are legal here (or, rather, not illegal, which means the same thing as far as he's concerned). The Nexus's lawlessness has its advantages.

"Don't mind if I take you up on that offer. You've got my PINpoint, I think. I'd be happy to take yours." Palmer wonders how Stratos is doing. "I only met your brother once, I think - after the Long Winter, when Loki brought us that message from the Fallen boss. I was stressed out and not really in the greatest mood."

"Exactly. That's why it hurts none of us to have a few extra friends to call on." At least, provided you can pay their price. Provided, too, that you truly know who you're dealing with.

Felix pulls out his PINpoint and beckons for Palmer's so he can add the number. "Oh, he told me a little about Loki's message. I wasn't around at the time." He'd long since taken Jim and made his escape. Recovering- let alone returning - took longer than he likes to remember. "Passions ran high, I gather. But it was a relief to find a truce had been reached without more bloodshed."

"A few new friends don't hurt." Palmer hands Felix his PINpoint. "Thanks for the help. And don't worry, what happened at the reception stays at the reception."

He considers Felix's statement. "Yeah. In hindsight, things ended as well as they could between us and them. At the time I wasn't too thrilled that they were bossing us around, and I still think they weren't making that deal outta the goodness of their hearts, but it's better that than a war. We argued, and Stratos got a bit frustrated with me. I was in the wrong - I was being hotheaded."

Felix enters the details briskly and hands the PINpoint back with a wink.

"War is never about altruism," he says with a shrug. "I shouldn't worry about it. Plenty of things frustrate my brother - I'm at the top of the list. I doubt he was irritated with you in particular, and I'm certain he holds no ill-feeling about it." Stratos isn't a man to dwell on small things. There are far too many of them, for a start.
