A Very Nexus Reception

To all the friends of the happy grooms, PINpoint messages have already been sent weeks ago inviting them to expect quite the street party arranged in the commons of the Nexus. Guests have been invited to bring an appetite--both for food and for a social adventure. Nirnish weddings are public affairs, after all. While the ceremony has had to be somewhat sequestered for the sake of keeping the existence of Other Worlds a secret, neither Felix nor Jim would want to leave out their interdimensional friends entirely. Having a reception party arranged in the Nexus became the natural plan of action.
Overnight large sections of the Commons are transformed via diligent craftsmanship and quite a lot of magic from those who’ve volunteered. Lanterns representing the Divines are hung along every lamp post, bringing at least the idea of warmth even if the flames are too small to heat their surroundings alone. Bardic tunes carry in the air as readily as the scent of food and drink. Past banners of red and black, blue and white the people gather.
For both grooms this is nearly a continuation of the day before. They’ve had the chance to sleep off the nerves of their ceremony. Today is entirely for celebration--uninhibited celebration at that. No more minding what is said and isn’t. No more pretending to be anything other than who they are. Jim’s traded out his Nirnish finery for a suit and tie, garments he’s much more familiar with. Felix is staying with his native clothing; though he may have dressed down a little from his wedding clothes, the conjurer’s dressed in fitted breeches and his best fur-trimmed coat and boots, the soft hide dyed blue to match his tunic. By their side sits the conjurer’s spectral wolf familiar, ears pricked at the gathering.
As the guests find their ways over it will be easy to spot their friends amidst all the decor along with many other avenues with which to enjoy themselves….
Greetings

Fit for some peace and quiet and space, but also ready for whatever projects you come up with." She bounces on the spot and looks between them. "Can you take pictures for me? I love seeing houses!"

Date: 2019-12-21 06:51 pm (UTC)Felix will get his just desserts later.
So much has changed in the years he's known Felix. Jim's honestly surprised at how ready and genuine his smile is at the mention of the house in Iowa. A place he loathed for so long, once more considered a home. It will be a long, long time until the Starfleet captain is ready to use it as such but for now it makes for a nice place of reprieve when the pair of them need a quiet place to steal away for a little while.
"I can do that. Kitchen will probably not look quite the way you think it should, but it's an Old farmhouse, so the rest of it probably doesn't look too far off your time."

"I'd like to see the ship, too," the scholar adds hastily.
With a giggle, Runa leans forward and corrects, "He'd like to see everywhere. But we can't take our eyes off him for a second."
"Jim's the explorer," Viatorus pouts. "You should be making jokes like that about him, not me."

Date: 2019-12-27 05:16 pm (UTC)This man's grin is positively electric with excitement. Where Isidor could barely handle looking outside the window at Yorktown Viatorus followed Jim around all over the base when the scholar came to visit. Now they want to see Nirn and the ship???
"The ship will be trickier than the other two, but given enough time I think I can manage all three. The house in Tamriel, our place in Iowa. And the ship. Sneaking someone out to the observation deck over gamma shift isn't too hard but that's not exactly a tour, is it?"

Date: 2019-12-30 04:12 pm (UTC)(Jim hasn't done this in ages, he'd be right to find it unfair.)
The conjurer looks almost as delighted as the captain when he turns to Jim. "Really? Well, now I'm intrigued. We're only married a day and you're scheming to sneak unauthorized personnel onto Starfleet's finest ship?" He grins. "I can hardly wait."

Date: 2020-01-02 10:55 am (UTC)The scholar is already a little distracted. "Do you bungee jump, Jim?"
He doesn't know why else anyone would jump from somewhere high. Especially when you don't have air magic.

The tiniest huff before he regains his composure."I'll figure something out for the ship. Promise. In the meantime, the other two places are marginally safer to arrange." He gives a half shrug toward Viatorus though.
"It's more akin to what I think you'd call base jumping. Or..like a space walk, when an emergency calls for it." Not that he'd been tethered for that but why give Felix more ammunition to use against him? "For some reason my Starfleet career has included a lot of fairly precise drops like that. It's a good thing I happen to enjoy the sport."
For one thing, no one's trying to kill you aside from gravity when you do it for fun.
"For some reason, Felix has never seemed keen on doing it with me."

Date: 2020-01-03 12:40 am (UTC)His smirk cracks in a hurry when recreational jumping-off-of-things comes up. "I grew up on a mountain, learning not to fall off the edge was lesson number one! You're just lucky you have good aim."
Felix shakes his head, deciding he'd better distract Jim before this idea goes any further. "We shouldn't keep you from enjoying the party, really. Will we be seeing you two on the dance floor?"

Date: 2020-01-06 07:47 pm (UTC)"You'll convince him yet, don't worry," Runa assures Jim with a wink.
As for the question of dancing... Well that stumps an awkward Viatorus. His wife only lets him flounder for a few seconds before jumping in with, "You won't be able to stop me. As for Viatorus..." She glances at the guilty looking scholar before grinning at Felix again. "We'll see what we can do."
"We mustn't keep you from your guests." Letting go of Viatorus, Runa hugs both of them in turn. "I am so happy for you! Enjoy tonight! And the rest of your lives!"

Date: 2020-01-07 03:11 am (UTC)"There's members of quite a few Federation species here, since some of my crew have come along." Jim offers to Viatorus. He's remembered all too well how difficult the mage found it to look in any one direction in Yorktown. If dancing isn't to his liking he's welcome to be a nerd in good company. Important to offer something of interest to All of his guests, at that.
"It's really an honor to have you two here." When he's finished returning Runa's hug Jim swaps the books to his left hand so he can offer Viatorus his other to shake. "You both have a good night and we'll catch up with you later."
