A Very Nexus Reception

To all the friends of the happy grooms, PINpoint messages have already been sent weeks ago inviting them to expect quite the street party arranged in the commons of the Nexus. Guests have been invited to bring an appetite--both for food and for a social adventure. Nirnish weddings are public affairs, after all. While the ceremony has had to be somewhat sequestered for the sake of keeping the existence of Other Worlds a secret, neither Felix nor Jim would want to leave out their interdimensional friends entirely. Having a reception party arranged in the Nexus became the natural plan of action.
Overnight large sections of the Commons are transformed via diligent craftsmanship and quite a lot of magic from those who’ve volunteered. Lanterns representing the Divines are hung along every lamp post, bringing at least the idea of warmth even if the flames are too small to heat their surroundings alone. Bardic tunes carry in the air as readily as the scent of food and drink. Past banners of red and black, blue and white the people gather.
For both grooms this is nearly a continuation of the day before. They’ve had the chance to sleep off the nerves of their ceremony. Today is entirely for celebration--uninhibited celebration at that. No more minding what is said and isn’t. No more pretending to be anything other than who they are. Jim’s traded out his Nirnish finery for a suit and tie, garments he’s much more familiar with. Felix is staying with his native clothing; though he may have dressed down a little from his wedding clothes, the conjurer’s dressed in fitted breeches and his best fur-trimmed coat and boots, the soft hide dyed blue to match his tunic. By their side sits the conjurer’s spectral wolf familiar, ears pricked at the gathering.
As the guests find their ways over it will be easy to spot their friends amidst all the decor along with many other avenues with which to enjoy themselves….

Jim's too sauced to say for sure but it kind of makes a sort of sense right now. Either way he's trying his damndest to straighten up again once she's let him go.
Boops are distracting though.
"Yeah?" A beat. Then he remembers. "Yeah! Thank you. It's good to get it done, finally."

Date: 2019-12-29 05:03 am (UTC)As even Delia Battista knows when and how to behave when she wants.
Once Jim's relatively steady and standing up, she releases him from the hug and takes a step back, grinning broadly as she does.
"And I'm glad for it. You certainly seem happy with him, and he with you, dear Jim."

Date: 2019-12-30 08:21 pm (UTC)It's so nice to be able to not filter what comes out of his mouth around Delia. Jim's convinced at least one of his friends Gets It.
"After everything it took to get him to stick around I damn well wasn' about to let that hard work go to waste."

Date: 2020-01-01 03:51 am (UTC)If there's anyone in the Nexus that Gets It--at least aside from Jim's alternates--it's probably Delia. They've got a lot in common, and honestly, she's rather fond of our dear Jim Kirk--it's part of why she gives him so much shit and teases him. It's one of her many ways of showing affection.
Plus she can tell, for all his grousing, he doesn't hate it.
"I'm definitely happy for you, dear." There's another one of those bright and almost flashy smiles of hers, and she definitely means it, too. "Both of you, even if I can't remember if I've met him or not."

Date: 2020-01-01 01:30 pm (UTC)"Brandy, anyone? The doctor tells me this is actually passable, so it must be good." He has glasses to offer both of them, but he pauses when he sees Jim and decides against handing him one. "I'm not butting in, am I?"

Date: 2020-01-01 02:29 pm (UTC)Plus, well. He's still Jim Kirk and still tends to find himself quicker to make friends with non-humans over his own kind. Just not anything More. Not for a long time.
Said reason for that is sauntering right up with drinks in hand looking like the Divines themselves so far as Jim's concerned. His smile is immediate when he catches Felix's voice, though he pauses just a second to appreciate the Imperial's obvious Virtues a moment and can't help the smirk he flashes Delia.
Told you so.
"Felix! There you are. I was lookin' for you. C'mere, you...you gotta meet Delia if you haven't already. She's also kinda from my world but not really."

Date: 2020-01-01 05:40 pm (UTC)Or something like that anyway.
Truthfully, it's something Delia's wanted to do anyway, hanging out, shooting the shit, getting a little buzzed? That's certainly something she can get behind.
Delia takes a glass and shifts her weight, smiling as Felix arrives. Whether or not he's met the Orion woman, she's certainly a distinct sight: Standing at about five foot five in the shoes she's wearing at the moment, Delia's a curvy, humanoid woman with deep green skin. She wears an eye patch over her right eye, with a deep, but faded scar across it. Her hair is shoulder length, and a sort of deep black-green color. Her good eye is a bright blue. Currently, she's wearing a rather basic, but nice black dress and low heels.
"How to describe it..." Delia muses in thought for a moment, "I'm from an alternate version of his world, and further along in the timeline. I can't remember if we've met before offhand, but I'm Delia Battista, a pleasure to meet you officially, Felix."

Date: 2020-01-02 08:35 pm (UTC)Hold that one for later, love.
He gives Delia his best charming smile as she takes the glass, pushing aside a moment of mental dissonance. Green skin and a fearless attitude makes his mind go straight to Orc, but no Orcish woman ever looked like Delia. He's immediately certain his aunt would like her.
"The pleasure is mine," he replies, lifting his glass to her rather than take the risk of bowing. "I've been looking forward to meeting the famous Captain Battista." He grins. "Everyone in Starfleet is so prim and well-behaved, Jim keeps trying to tell me the rest of the galaxy is more fun. Is he telling the truth?"

Date: 2020-01-02 10:12 pm (UTC)But he can't help but to make a disgruntled sort of Definitely Not Whine at the teasing. He's offended that's what he is. Definitely not affecting a petulant little brother maneuver. Him? Never. Perish the thought.
"Are you saying I'd lie to you? What's Delia going to think. Besides, having seen everyone at the tavern with you the other night and here now, you'd think you'd realize that even in Starfleet folks know how to have fun."

Date: 2020-01-02 11:53 pm (UTC)As long as her friends are happy, it matters little how. She takes a sip of the drink, making a soft, pleased sound as she does. "And the pleasure is mine as well, on that note." She cuts a glance to Jim, "And I've known a few fun Starfleet types in my day, depends on when and where, of course."
Her tone is teasing and fond, and she's still grinning, eye alight with mischief.

Date: 2020-01-03 06:49 pm (UTC)Delia's grin draws a smirk in turn. "Yes, well, the trouble with some Starfleet types is they won't let themselves have fun, you know. They need a kind soul to prize them away from their work with a firm hand, let's say. Any recommendations about how to do that? I had an idea I'd learn to play dom jot very badly so they'd feel compelled to come fix it."
I couldn't resist
Date: 2020-01-05 02:19 pm (UTC)Another time, perhaps. Right now, Jim's in the company of Delia and Felix and couldn't be more pleased with this turn of events. Doubly so when games come into the topic of conversation.
"Like, fake playing badly, right?" Jim doesn't much see a point to learning something if you're not going to learn how to do it well, after all. "I used to shark loads of cargo drivers back in Iowa. Delia, you know how to play, right?" Between the two of them, they could probably teach Felix, right? Nevermind that it's the first Felix has ever mentioned being interested. Jim won't think of that now.

Date: 2020-01-06 06:49 pm (UTC)Delia herself is rather pleased with this as well, having heard about Felix from Jim, she's happy to see they're all getting along oh-so-well. "Although some might've called me a hustler in the olden days of yore."
Hopefully, Felix knows what he's getting into, with these two together.

Date: 2020-01-08 12:25 am (UTC)When the time comes. He'll save this particular conversation to bring up at the appropriate juncture.
"What devious minds I've fallen in with. Of course, if I'm going to learn, maybe I'm better off learning from scoundrels." He winks at Delia. "I might even have a fighting chance if you are rusty."
He's pretty sure he knows what he's getting into- and so long as it involves a good night out with his husband, a fun new friend, and perhaps a dash of mischief, he's all for it.

Date: 2020-01-10 01:28 pm (UTC)Their aim for indulgence seems to be possible after all! Jim breaks into a full faced grin that's a hair wicked when he turns back and puts a hand on both Felix and Delia's arms.
"Come on. There's a spot free." Time to go get even more drunk and try to teach Felix a new game somewhat passably.

Date: 2020-01-20 06:25 am (UTC)As they pass someone serving drinks, she plucks a glass for herself and takes a nice sip.

Date: 2020-01-25 03:23 pm (UTC)If Delia's taking one of Jim's arms, Felix is taking the other, escorting the captain between them to the open table. Once there, the conjurer breaks away to lean against the table as he peers over it, a mite skeptical.
"Well then, which of you charmers is going to show me how it's done?"

Date: 2020-01-26 01:13 pm (UTC)It's made a lot easier when Jim goes out of his way to spoil Felix as much as possible. While Felix is getting a lay of the table with its walls and lights Jim's going to find them cues so they can get started.
"Seems like a shame to just watch us. Come on, take one of these. The whole goal's to get these colored balls into the right spots." For a man with more than a little drink in him Jim's pretty practiced at setting up the table and the balls for them to play. "Delia can go first, and we'll both help you when th'other one's taking a turn."
no subject
Date: 2020-02-01 01:32 am (UTC)She flashes one of those damn bright, flirty, playful smiles of hers, her eye glittering with mischief and mirth. Delia does her part to help set up the table and pass out cue sticks, occasionally taking a sip of her drink as she does.
Delia then frowns thoughtfully, regarding the table as she moves to take her first shot to break. "After all, all the fun's in playing, taking the shots and seeing where it all goes."
no subject
Date: 2020-02-15 02:15 pm (UTC)There's a rather satisfying clack as the balls break and go rolling across the smooth surface of the table. Felix watches them scatter with mild curiosity; he has no idea yet what he should be watching for.
"Well, I can't promise to be deft, but I can be flexible." He can try to imitate Delia's stance, too-or at least begin to before he lifts his eyebrows at them. "So, where am I supposed to be punting these?"
no subject
Date: 2020-02-21 10:03 pm (UTC)Jim's gaze is on his husband more so than the table they're playing at. He grins when Felix settles in and it only gets wider when the mage looks up his way, then to Delia for some kind of information to help him out.
"Here." The captain taps the pocket in the center of the table with the end of his cue, then lifts it to tap each of the corner pockets in turn. "Here too, but it's less points than th'center one." It's only now that the captain's wondering if he'll be much good at this. It's been actual years since he's played at all and he's definitely
incredibly drunka bit tipsy right now. It should be fine though. Why wouldn't it be? He's Jim freaking Kirk. They're here to have fun and he can definitely do that.
