A Very Nexus Reception

To all the friends of the happy grooms, PINpoint messages have already been sent weeks ago inviting them to expect quite the street party arranged in the commons of the Nexus. Guests have been invited to bring an appetite--both for food and for a social adventure. Nirnish weddings are public affairs, after all. While the ceremony has had to be somewhat sequestered for the sake of keeping the existence of Other Worlds a secret, neither Felix nor Jim would want to leave out their interdimensional friends entirely. Having a reception party arranged in the Nexus became the natural plan of action.
Overnight large sections of the Commons are transformed via diligent craftsmanship and quite a lot of magic from those who’ve volunteered. Lanterns representing the Divines are hung along every lamp post, bringing at least the idea of warmth even if the flames are too small to heat their surroundings alone. Bardic tunes carry in the air as readily as the scent of food and drink. Past banners of red and black, blue and white the people gather.
For both grooms this is nearly a continuation of the day before. They’ve had the chance to sleep off the nerves of their ceremony. Today is entirely for celebration--uninhibited celebration at that. No more minding what is said and isn’t. No more pretending to be anything other than who they are. Jim’s traded out his Nirnish finery for a suit and tie, garments he’s much more familiar with. Felix is staying with his native clothing; though he may have dressed down a little from his wedding clothes, the conjurer’s dressed in fitted breeches and his best fur-trimmed coat and boots, the soft hide dyed blue to match his tunic. By their side sits the conjurer’s spectral wolf familiar, ears pricked at the gathering.
As the guests find their ways over it will be easy to spot their friends amidst all the decor along with many other avenues with which to enjoy themselves….
Greetings

Oh, he notices that start and break in the conversation. He's not quite sure what to make of it, one eyebrow raising, but Jim's arrival manages to forestall any questions or concerns. He shakes Jim's hand firmly, a strong grip for a small person with soft, aristocratic hands. He's already given Felix his surname, so he thinks nothing much of Jim having forgotten to mention it. Luckily it's written on the gift tag so he can refresh his memory later!
"Yes, I was getting that impression," he says with a polite smile, starting to note that his human friend is a little bit tipsy. "We were comparing notes just now...um..."
His eyes stray toward the familiar. Now that he's getting a better look at it, he can tell it's not exactly a corporeal creature, which is a huge relief in a way, and deeply unnerving in another. His ears react, lowering and jutting to the sides. "Is...is that?"
Humans and their dogs, is the thought that pops up in his head, but he bites his tongue on it. Best not to comment until he's sure he knows exactly what he's looking at.

The body language takes him by surprise, because elves in Tamriel don't have expressive ears- but Khajiit do, and those flattened ears look very unhappy to Felix. If Rondo had a tail, it would probably be lashing in agitation. Felix looks down and around to see what the matter is.
"Oh! My familiar, yes." He cocks his head, prompting it to trot around behind them and sit neatly a step behind him and to the side, ears twitching forward. It's curious about the stranger, though it won't do more than lift its head, sniffing the air with interest. "I suppose they might be different on your plane. In Tamriel they usually take the form of wolves these days. It's a convenient sort of shape."

Date: 2020-01-18 05:30 pm (UTC)"What's what...?" Squint, what's the matter. Rondo's not pleased about something or another and Jim honestly can't follow right away. He leans over a bit to stare at the familiar taking a nice polite little sit back there and grins even harder.
"Oh yeah. Don' worry he's not real. Well, I mean. He's magic. He does what Felix tells him to so he's completely safe t'be around people an'all. Felix can make all kinds of them, though I think the others are tied to th'elements more than creatures."
